ALAN HUNT | LCSW-R
"We are fond of pointing out that the past is alive in the present. But the future is alive in the present too. The future is not some place we're going to, but an idea in our mind now. It is something we're creating that in turn creates us. The future is a fantasy that shapes our present.
Stress, confusion and fear prevent us from accessing the motivation and energy needed to create a more fulfilling and successful life. And getting to a place of peace and emotional well-being requires not only your attention and great care but also a guide, someone to facilitate your effort. I'm in ongoing advanced training in psychoanalytic and psychodynamic psychotherapy but unlike typical analysts I don't act like a blank screen. I have a modern approach to therapy and provide feedback, insight and encourage collaboration with my clients.
It's possible you've done some hard work to address your troubles on your own, or maybe you're now realizing it’s time to start. Either way, talking through your thoughts, feelings and experiences is invaluable, and indeed essential for real and lasting contentment.
For over a decade, I have been working to guide my clients on their journey toward emotional well being. I began my journey as an undergrad at the University of Wisconsin, where I earned my Bachelor's degree in Social Work. From there, I earned my Master's degree in Clinical Social Work at the University of St. Thomas. I am an avid student of psychotherapy, and I hold a certificate of training at the Center for Modern Psychoanalaytic Studies in New York City. I am currently in an intensive Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy training at The Training Institute for Mental Health in New York City where I continue to strive to perfect the art of psychotherapy. Time and time again, I have found psychotherapy to be an incredibly powerful experience in helping clients do the work of becoming more fulfilled.
I look forward to meeting you, and joining you in working toward lasting and meaningful change.
